Ohakune is the closest town to the Turoa and Whakapapa ski fields. It adjoins New Zealand's only World Heritage Park, Tongariro National Park, famous for its magnificent scenery and splendid walks including the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and The Old Coach Road.
We also have great mountain biking trails in the Tongariro National Park/Ohakune, Mount Ruapehu District such as The Ohakune Old Coach Road (Horopito to Ohakune 14km), Fishers Track (National Park Village to Oio Road 21km) and The 42nd Traverse (42km), considered to be one of the best mountain bike rides in the North Island.
If hiking or mountain biking is not your thing, we also have other great attractions such as guided fishing, canoeing, golfing etc... There are plenty of adventure options in Ohakune all year and we look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Ohakune.
The Alpine Motel is located right in the Ohakune town centre, just metres from the shops, bars and restaurants.
We have 9 well-appointed ground-floor units, from Studio units to spacious self-contained Chalets. All of our units have Sky TV and 32" LCD's for your viewing pleasure. As from 1st May 2023 we now have unlimited high-speed WiFi access in each unit.
We also have a 4-bedroom fully self-contained townhouse available.
We have modern, warm, self contained units which are serviced daily. We have an onsite spa pool and guest laundry and drying room.
